TGE,TGEA and T3D Clarification

by Greyfort · in Torque 3D Beginner · 11/19/2011 (12:03 am) · 1 replies

I was looking at some things and downloaded the free demo of TGE, I rather liked it wonderfully done. I haven't found TGEA, I'm assuming its better the TGE. I purchased T3Dpro. My question is are these 3 dif engines or is T3D the final version of the torque engine.

I would love to be able to incorporate the things from TGE, since I am trying to make a platform that works on 64mb vid cards as well as newer cards. Can anyone clarify my question. After all if its a good tool why throw it out.

TGEA is the missing link between TGE and T3D, in effect it was TGE with bling.

I believe that TGE should be on sale if GG still has the rights to it, sold for a cheap price, no technical support outside of the community forums and a limitation of non commercial without a special negotiated license.

I personally havent tried to see how low spec of a game you can make with T3D, and tbh i cant even remember what the lowest spec cards are that support the minimum features needed. But you can reduce your game assets to something more like 5+ year old games, lower poly models, 128x128 textures and basic lighting (the textures are one of the biggest issues for low memory cards).
