Soldier model skeleton rig question

by John E. Nelson · in Artist Corner · 11/17/2011 (12:02 am) · 6 replies

I am wondering if the new T3D Soldier model skeleton rig is based on a standard, or is it unique to this character?
Is it different than Gideon's?
I would like to have multiple characters share the same pool of animations as much as possible.
Has anyone looked at it yet in 3DSMax?
Thanks!

The Soldier and Gideon's skeleton are both the same. However we've stretched Gideon's skeleton a bit to fit the model.

I will have test to see if I can apply the animations in game to either characters to see the result.
Hopefully they will work for both.
Many of my current NPC's are using the Gideon skeleton so they all can share animations now.

From what I understand you wont be able to apply the animations to either character because of the different file formats.

I bought the original Soldier MAX files in the store, so I should be able to export the animations as DSQ files. Have not opened them yet to see, so there could be issues.

After looking at the Max file I see only 2670 frames of animation.
Now I understand that the many player using weapons animations are in the weapon folders themselves.

art\shapes\weapons\Turret\PlayerAnims\

The additional animations are in the Collada format.
