3-way Scatter Sky Brightness Engine Modification

Created this recently, and it's nowhere near perfect, but wanted to know if it'd be worth adding as a resource and for me to continue working on it. Basically it gives you the ability to adjust the brightness at 3 different times of day (dawn, midday, dusk) and each time of day having their own brightness setting. Here's a quick video...
*NOTE* I use extreme values in the video to show the change between time periods covered; however, this is supposed to be used in moderation :)

this would be a great resource, as I am using time of day

That would certainly be useful Jordan.

What other things would you all like to see in the resource? I'm looking for some more feedback so I can implement the best resource for you all.

@Kevin - I'm so sorry I haven't posted a reply to this in quite some time. I've made some small progress on it, but my time was cut quite a bit down lately because of me finalizing my divorce...lol. Things have been crazy, so I had to take a break from this side project. What other things would you all like to see in the resource? @All - thank you for your feedback. Once things settle down a bit, I'll get back to work on this, but more feedback is greatly appreciated and welcome!

Now is the time to add feature requests to the remake before I start developing again and posting it up as a resource!

It seems that my source code wasn't transferred over for some reason during my computer upgrade and data migration. So I'm getting a chance to remake everything I did even better than before :)Now is the time to add feature requests to the remake before I start developing again and posting it up as a resource!

Instead of just having 3 brightness settings for each milestone of the day, have an R, G, and B line-graph/ease curves type of setting for lighting, and 1 for brightness. The idea being that these would span from time 0 to the max day length(maybe even have an ease control for how fast day/night/dusk/dawn scale, so nights can be longer than days, etc).
This way, you can directly control the lighting color, and brightness(and maybe speed scale) very specifically at any given point during the day. And it'd be very easy and intuitive(in my opinion).

My recommendation to this would be to add something I'd been plotting on, but it's way down my list:Instead of just having 3 brightness settings for each milestone of the day, have an R, G, and B line-graph/ease curves type of setting for lighting, and 1 for brightness. It could be as simple as the normal black background, with "stars" and "moon" displayed over it ... and the starscape slowly rotate as night progress, then blink out just prior to sunrise.
You could use something like the old "stars" resource as a basis for this, I was able to get it updated and working on T3D v1.2.

How about adding in Skatter Sky "night" mod as well ? It could be as simple as the normal black background, with "stars" and "moon" displayed over it ... and the starscape slowly rotate as night progress, then blink out just prior to sunrise.

@Jeff Raab - throw up a mock image of how'd you like it to look if you can :)
@Jeff Yaskus - good idea. I've been wanting to create something similar to the Lord of the Rings Online Northern Lights implementation for quite sometime now (see link: images.mmorpg.com/images/galleries/full/132009/ed176aba-4b02-45b8-b0ae-8728fc17e...). We shall see what I can do ;)

@Paul Yoskowitz - Great ideas. I'll see if I can make it better than just hacks and rework the ScatterSky completely...no promises, but thanks for those additions!@Jeff Raab - throw up a mock image of how'd you like it to look if you can :)

I think I'm going to completely rework the Scattersky...with some new formula's that will give proper extinction values. I haven't fully gone through all of the Scattersky equations and not saying that I can make it any better, but it's worth a shot...let me start on that first...then we can rework these other areas if need be.

Cool, small world heh! Just about 1 year since graduation now. That night sky example from LotRo is perfect example ... I liked how they had multiple layers of background stars (different sizes) and then the aurora distorting the night sky. awesome.
