Maya 2012 Collada Export Question

Hello
I am using Maya 2012. In maya I created a wall and assigned a new blinn material. I piped a 2d file texture into the color input and also piped a bump map using the hypershade. Everything works fine in Maya.
However when I export it to Torque2D I get my shape correctly sized and exported and also my material. My material however bears the correct name, but no texture file whatsoever!
I said ok ... probably bug and entered into the material editor to enter the diffuse and normal maps myself. Shock ... it RENDERS THEM WHITE in the color swatches, without ANY change whatsoever in the 3d viewport.
I entered into the material.cs file and changed the path to being local, in the same directory and copied the files there. Needless to say, it worked. However the UV Mapping that has been carefully done in maya is lost.
I have several questions. Once I textured the model, UV Mapped it, applied a bumpmap and everything works fine in Maya, what are the necesarry steps to actually export a working copy (with textures and UV Maps included) to T3D? From Maya 2012 (which does not support OpenCollada)

It works on the default collada exporter if you create a Photoshop UV Map from within maya (Create PSD Network), arrange the textures and export it as a jpg.
