advanced 2d artist looking for free 3d modeling program

hi hows it going! ive been a garage games member for awhile now but had to start a new account do tot he loss of my old one...well anyway..hi. i was wondering if anyone knew of any programs that i could create 3-dmodels of stuff for free. im skill in 2d art is advanced but my 3-d art... not so much. does anyone know of any free 3d programs?

i am currently a conceptual, and 2d artist. i like games a lot.. big nintendo fan.

Ive been shying away from belnder for yearsm vut with 2.56+ and the large number of beginners tutorials out there for the new version its looking more and more like it will become the standard for game sin the years to come.

I dont know about becomming the standard it has a very long way to go before it will be really comparable to max and maya, however i would agree it IS the standard for indie games even now...cant beat free!

I use blender, but Wings is easier to get started with.

You could use Wings 3DI use blender, but Wings is easier to get started with.

ken- your right ken...cant beat free. once i have an extra 100 im investing in torque 3d. to good to pass up.
wipeout-ive never of heard of wings before but i might check it out. at this point already downloaded blender and it and im already getting comfortable with it.:)

Its probably a good idea to look into that since it will give you some experiance with actual industry software.

students.autodesk.com give you the ability to get a free 3 year 'educational' version of most of Media & Entertainment software applications for free (such as Max, Maya, XSI, Mudbox, etc.). Its probably a good idea to look into that since it will give you some experiance with actual industry software.

I myself started on Truespace, which is also easy to use and free (you will see it in the list) Truespace became free after Google bought the company. And now you know where their modeler came from. LOL~
I use Maya now and you can get that free too if you are a student, all you need is a college id.
Hope this helps, and on a side note Charles, you should find a modeler that is very easy for you to use and understand. As a toy maker it's very important you know your tool set inside and out.
