UAISK or Tactical AI KIt

by J L · in Torque 3D Professional · 07/30/2011 (4:29 am) · 6 replies

So, I have narrowed my choices down to these two. Guidebot was in the running and I see twisted genius was the only one to reply so that means there is an avenue of support. I had forgotten all about the tactical ai kit till I seen a blog on it.

So what is everyone's experience with one of these two products?

Well the TAIK is exactly that... Tactical, If you need AI that reacts like a soldier should in the sense that the AI would want to preserve itself and work with allied AI to eliminate an enemy then TAIK is what you need.

The TAIK does take some setting up because of all the "senses" that the TAIK uses, but the Text and Video documentation make things easy to understand while getting used to the kit.

I am using the UAISK for my project (a fantasy RPG game) and it suits me very well. It is pretty easy to customize and to add new functionality. And the support of Twisted is very good in my opinion.

I don't have any experience whatsoever with TAIK so I can't give my opinion about that one.

I guess I failed to say I'm working on a tactical shooter, so the TAIK is what I needed and depending on your project you may need differant, luckily now we have that choice! :P

I did shoot for the moon and went with the TAIK. It was what I needed. I am going for an SP game model and it fitted for what I needed. Although I must say dropping the navigation points get repetitive :D , other then that I like it. Had it installed and running on my map in under 1 hour.

And thanks for the reviews from the both of you

That's the price of navigation, unless you go to the trouble of creating an auto-generator like recast ;P.

There is a recast resource available ...
