Shoutout for Sickhead Games! (and Torsion)

by Dusty Monk · in Torque 3D Professional · 07/26/2011 (6:29 am) · 11 replies

Closing in on the final weeks here, trying to get Atomic City Adventures out the door. As I bring up the debugger once again, it occurs to me how much I've utterly relied on this tool.

So I'm taking just 5 minutes here to give a random shoutout to Sickhead Games. HAELL YEAH!

Without the miracle that is Torsion, pretty much a fully functional symbolic debugger for Torque Script, it is no exaggeration to say that Atomic City Adventures simply could not have been made. Period.

So good on ye guys. You've created what is without a doubt the single most important tool to have in the box for ANY development in T3D, bar none.

Cheers, and best of luck.

Huzzar!

After finally bothering to buy Torsion recently, I really wish I'd heeded Tom's advice years ago when he said; "Notepad!? Dude, get Torsion".

It does need some sort of animated paperclip though ...
"It looks like you're writing a script! Would you like to run Torque with all of these highlighted errors or do you want to fix them first?"

Torison is definitely a good buy as its basically the Visual Studio for Torque scripting and very nicely done. So far the only feature request I have for Torison is the ability to drag and drop movement of opened file window tabs so I can reorder them myself, and it's one of my bet peeves about a lot of text editors out there not allowing it. Other than that great IDE.

Torsion is a great editor/debugger for scripting. It saved me a lot of time fixing scripting errors and tracing back some unexpected behaviout. It is worth every dollar/pound/euro or whatever currency you use.

I guess if you are a genius you could get by without it. Everyone else, it seems like once you use it for 10 minutes you can't imagine how you achieved anything without it.

I saw this thread last night and decided to try the demo. Pretty dang impressed, I'm buying it now!

Edit: Owned it for about a week, lovin' it. I recommend this to anyone.
