I'm assuming (dangerous i know) that since there was a modified codebase of Torque 2D being developed (theres also a version of torque 3d pro with full t2d codebase in it too... juggernaught anyone? :) ) That at some point work will continue on T2D. maybe even a fully merged combo of engines to queten some of the unity users complains that you need 2 products to do the same job as unity (all be it significantly cheaper) :p
Whether this means that T2D will be released as a new product (requiring additional purchase), and TGB being dropped, the same way T3D replaced TGEA i dont know, it would make the most sense, both businesswise and maybe even product wise.
Personally i would love to see an all new T2D product with an iso option, then i could start a petition for Jeff Faust to make AFX for T2D and then we could all make 2D BG/IWS/Planescape style games easier :)

The Torque 2D that never got made? the Torque 2D that was TGB rebadged? The Torque 2D that Master perry was working on before IAC took a giant dump all over torquepowered?I'm assuming (dangerous i know) that since there was a modified codebase of Torque 2D being developed (theres also a version of torque 3d pro with full t2d codebase in it too... juggernaught anyone? :) ) That at some point work will continue on T2D. maybe even a fully merged combo of engines to queten some of the unity users complains that you need 2 products to do the same job as unity (all be it significantly cheaper) :p

Unless there will be fixes for everything reported since 2005 and nothing else - do not care. Wouldn't bother to port my stuff, might as well just buy different engine then.

@Andrea - It all depends on staffing. Our team is still growing and we are getting to the point where we do not have a single person working multiple projects at a time. Quote:The Torque 2D that Master perry was working on...Gah, please don't refer to me like that. I was involved with the initial team, but I was not coding for it.

* Consider showing a road map even if staff limitations mean you can not give a due date. This way it wouldn't feel so... dead-end.
* Consider a more open source model where your dedicated users (who are purchasers) can connect to the source and submit patches for approval. It would be kind of the Linux model then. You would have final say, and anyone who wanted to speculate on a new idea could do so, but no guarantee it would get in.
* I know 3D programming just fine, but I think 2D is where it's at over the next couple of years. I also think, if GG is going after a hobbyist market, 2D is MUCH easier to understand and write/draw for.
* I will refrain from making this a list of the features I think would be easy enough and most awesome. :) Those threads tend to get overwhelming.

I did not want to breach this subject, b/c I know how busy the GG team must be and how hard they have worked on T3D. I also realize that TGB is yards better than any competitive product, especially for the price. However, I have hoped for some bug fixes and additions for the few months I've been torque scripting now as well. Since we have the ears of a staff member or two, may I make a few heady suggestions?* Consider showing a road map even if staff limitations mean you can not give a due date. I know you cant see T3D private forums but, many of the bugs reported there in the past were also fixed in the same thread for people who had a problem with that particular bug, I think that many of the official fixes to the 1.1 final codebase may have used some of these community fixes also, I think that if there was a private T2D/TGB forum a similar thing would/could happen there also. I also believe that if the GG team did the same thing and posted the bug fixes to the actual recorded bug thread then maybe the time between releases would be less of an issue for many people.
As for your comments about 2D, I think that's spot on, I do not believe there's much of a market for 3D on any mobile platform for a variety of reasons, nor do I think there's a huge market for 3D casual, the need for 2D games isn't going to go away any time soon.

I'm not into that 2D stuff, but there is progress for the mobile development, I think.
And I don't think that drawing is easier only because it's "2D", I've seen a couple of thread where programmers where looking for artists.
Also, "hobbyist" doesn't sound right, I may be wrong here but I think it's the independent-market, where people get the opportunity to actually get into the Game-development business.

It sounds like there is a mixture between Torque2D and iTorque2D.I'm not into that 2D stuff, but there is progress for the mobile development, I think.
