This is a proposed copyright law change proposed making it illeagal to post copyrighted content. So in theory that would make posting games we made with Torque for example illeagal to to post since Torque is copyrighted. Wrose, posting your COD vides for example of UTube would also be a crime. Internesting. So where is our freedom America?

I came across this and just as quickly dismissed it and the 50 million scaremongering youtube vids.

Simply put, this gives the right for game publishers to publish cease and desist letters to everyone who provides free advertising, can i see that happening? not really, and despite bills being passed it even in the USA it isnt law untill it has successfully passed through a court of law and the precident has been set according to case law rules.

The bill is there mostly to protect music and film, the fact that games fall loosely into this 'digital' category is only slightly concerning, and a simple modification would quickly dismiss any fears that the scaremongering youtube posters have.

The fact that youve added torque there is just extra scaremongering, theres a difference between copyright of source code and copyright of visuals.

Tho yet again, this is another american law that doesnt effect me in the slightest, and at worst, it will just make all the video hosting companies currently hosting in the USA in US datacenters, move to another country and bypass the ruling in one fell swoop, and ruinging the careers of a swath of tech employees at said datacenters.

But really, the chances of the worst happening because of vague wordings of laws is quite limited in scope i think, of all the major players in the gaming industry i think only sony would be stupid enough to even consider action again people who post gameplay vids.

I didn't read the bill, but you wouldn't have to worry about posting videos of your game if it passed. The engine license allows you to use the Torque marks to advertise your game, just as it allows to advertise Torque by using your games as examples of cool things made with the engine.
