3ds max 2012 DTS exporter

by Jake Waugh · in Artist Corner · 04/29/2011 (9:00 pm) · 7 replies

I know this is a long shot because I've searched high and low for this. If anyone can help me find a DTS exporter for 3DS MAX 2012 64 bit, I would give you cookies.

I am new to getting my models working but the recent plug-in I tried failed and was assumed to be because it was a 32bit thing(Which I was unaware of). Unfortunatley I can't downgrade to anything because i'm under student license that only lets me get the newest version of 3ds. If you know of a way without pirating anything please share, or of a way to get 32bit exporter working, that would be fantastic.

If you are in need of what I already done, check this topic I made about it. Yes it is an add-on for the game

Do you mean this one found in the resource section ?
"Max2DTS 2012 32bit ..& others + Maya2dts 2010 x86"
..the one that says "32 bit" in the title. :P

Jake..I am sure Autodesk will give you the 32 bit version of Max if you have a legit 64 bit version (note:I am not fully aware of their student-licensing)
..32 bit is not already on the disc or in the download package?

There are actually two installers that you get with 3DS Max. However by default the autorun program will detect if you have a 64 bit OS and install the 64 bit version of the software. If you want the 32 bit version installed, just find the setup32.exe file in the install directory and run that.

I've tried to find previous versions for 3ds max but I couldn't find any that they would give under my username. I will try that Logan, Hopefully works and thanks

Okay so, I tried installing 32 bit on and everything loaded but when I still tried to export, I got the error saying "Don't know how to save file of that type". Maybe it's just because the exporter i'm using isn't up to date with the newest version of 3ds?

grab this expor4ter package and put the 2012 exporter into the stdplugs folder found in your max install. Remove any other DTS exporter.

There's also the option of using the DAE2DTS tool that is available on the Torque 3D owner's download page for the engine.

you can also use the built in COLLADA exporter inside 3ds Max
