T3D 1.1 Preview - Export to Collada broken - RESOLVED

by Stefan D · in Torque 3D Professional · 04/28/2011 (1:41 am) · 8 replies

Build: 1.1 Preview, 1.1 Pro.

Platform: Windows 7, 64 bit

Target: Shape-Editor

Issues: Saving the current shown mesh in shape-editor doesn't work

(tell us how to trigger the bug)
Steps to Repeat:
1. Launch the Shape-Editor
2. Load a model
3. Mount other models to mountpoints
4. Use "Export To Collada"
5. Enter Filename

The file doesn't exist after export (in Beta 3 a file with no mesh-data was created)

OLD-Description:
I'm trying to build a mesh within the shape-editor of T3D Preview. Loading the mesh and attaching other meshes to mountpoints works fine but if I select File -> Export to Collada I don't get any output file.

With T3D 1.1 B3 I have a output file but without any model data.

Should the export work that way or do I misunderstand what "Export To Collada" does?

Honestly i didnt even realise you could export from the shape editor out to a dae...

It's there to convert DIF interiors from TGE/TGEa into dae to be used as a DTS.

Maybe there is another solution. Why do you want export models from Torque3D?
It might be easier to crate your models in some other program, like Blender, milkshape, max, etc.

I try to build a complex shapes with different smaller parts in my program. The result should be saveable to collada to load them in another program/tool where the mounted parts should be included.

report it as a bug, cause it is.
change the title of this thread to start: BUG

deepscratch is right.

But in future, it'll be easier to do the whole shape in that program/tool you're using.

I'm pretty sure this is fixed already. I do remember the artists running into it.

Hi,

if it is already fixes it would be great.

I am working on a Tool similiar to mack/fack which should export chars. So using another Tool isn't possible. The Dae save functionality was why I bought t3d primary. Writing my own exporter is probably more expensive than the 99 $ i spend for torque

Fixed in 1.1 Final.
