Saw this on Massively.com Today (Minions of Mirth)

I saw this writeup on Massively.com this morning.

As it was germane to Torque--and particularly a recurring question which seems to pop up from time to time--yes, that question--I thought I would denote it here.

For anyone unfamiliar with the subject, Minions of Mirth (MoM), was an MMO developed on the Torque Game Engine (TGE) and which has been running for years at this point (although I believe it left the hands of the original developers and ownership of the property changed some years back).

What I found particularly of interest were the comments (yes, I read comments), as most of the commentariat seemed to be familiar with MoM, and many of them expressed a willingness to download and try it. Always interesting to hear feedback from the player (and potential player) side--surprising... no one expressed any concern about the TGE-era graphics, only the game experience.

From experience,MMO gamers will give most things a go. The problem after that, is keeping them playing once the subscription period(if its not f2p) runs out.

Lack of content, polish are key elements on why a community will vanish from an MMO.

Sure - focus on game experience is good. As long as your game is fun and interesting you should be able to maintain a good customer base. Even f2p games lose people if they're dull....
