Wetness and Precipitation in T3D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5qho-Qhzcg&feature=related - where I can download this demo?
If its not available, will it be available with T3D 1.1 Final?

It is not available and will not be part of T3D 1.1.

Hmph. Why?

@Dmitry - I think it's not priority for the 1.1 version, because of their tight deadline and more essential issues that needs to be addressed.
But since it was possible once it might be possible again, after T3D 1.1 ;)

It's a long, sordid, touchy story. If you want a full explanation, our IRC channel might be the best place to get the candid story:

Server: irc.maxgaming.net
Channel: GarageGames

The code name for the shader in IRC is Puppies.

Essentially the Wetness Demo/Video was built against TGEA while Torque 3D was still being started and the technology is very hard to make compatible with the Torque 3D rendering and lighting systems.

At the time that it was built we didn't realize it was going to be so difficult to make it work with the new systems in Torque 3D so we posted it as a video of what we were working on. Once we fully scoped out the issues we decided that there were much higher priority items for Torque 3D and cut the feature.

GarageGames has been consistently messaging that "wetness" would not be a feature of Torque 3D for a couple of years but people continue to irrationally expect them to deliver it.

It is, however, a good example of what having full access to the source code can allow a knowledgable graphics programmer to accomplish.

Thanks for your reply, Matt.

Original author of this demo is still work with GG, or he is not in a boat any more?

P.S. I think, main major lack of T3D, behind many others, its deficiency in _publicly_ available demos like this one, which can show potential buyer what T3D is graphically capable to.

He was a contractor that GarageGames stopped working with a long time ago (he wasn't interested in the deferred rendering that we were adding to Torque 3D and preferred to continue his work with the forward rendering system in TGEA).

My understanding is that GarageGames is currently putting a fair amount of focus on new demos (or making the previously unavailable ones public). However, they also seemed to be highly focused on fixing bugs and on writing more documentation so I am not sure when we will get to see new demos.

Here is a cool shader that was developed by marcus, it not the same as the video but with some tweaking you maybe able to achieve the same thing
