Hey first time. Just curious why the boards look lean? Secondly does torque 3d support fbx import?

I suppose torque x is the only one then?

Doesn't Autodesk have a free FBX > DAE converter?

I believe so...but ultimate unwrap can convert fbx into dts. Especially if animating in messiah and exporting fbx then converting to dts. But having native support would stop all the multiple conversions just to meet your goals.

..so would buying the software that was focused upon to initially get the job done. ..you know, your fat cats post, etc.

And then for every format they decide to support natively, they need to update every time that format changes. COLLADA was made as an interchange format so that people had a common format to go to, and it's extremely logical to support that kind of format instead of multiple proprietary ones.
Or, what eb said...

geez take a look around you will see the truth!
well supporting two animation exporters is really all you need because every other static format eg obj can plugin into them at any point before b animation export. So it makes sense to only support these two animation exporters only! But as seen from all forums these same two are nothing but a headache to get working! hahaha what a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess there is really no good programmers left to make this a part of torque. Or maybe they charge huge fees for the privilege??? No wonder software prices are on the rise....Greedy bastards!!!

Shit the main animation exporters are collada and fbx so really there is no great difficulty in supporting only these two....everything else is just a waste of time. Besides 100% of the industry uses either one or both!!! geez take a look around you will see the truth!

If you're pissing and moaning this much for simple export features that you're supposedly just reading about in the forums, I'd hate to see what happens to you when you actually try to develop a game!
And if you think programmers like me are so greedy, then maybe you should pay my rent for me and I'll do coding for you? Oh, that's the agreement already, since I charge for my work so I can keep a roof over our heads. I like how people think that developers are fat cats, and then cry about having to pay so much to use them...

Quite the attitude to start off in the community with, but I haven't had too many issues with using COLLADA. I even found someone successfully importing animations from trueSpace with it a few days ago (an app I use, which is free for people with short arms and deeps pockets such as yourself). If you're pissing and moaning this much for simple export features that you're supposedly just reading about in the forums, I'd hate to see what happens to you when you actually try to develop a game!

Bloody hell you think your the only one who lives in this world! News Flash sorry to tell you... theres over 7 billion more..... Some of them dont give a flying fuck about money!!!

I never pay a dime unless its worth it and even then i wont! I would never pay for your services in a million years. Well can you justify huge prices for a piece of software thats full of bugs and still force people to pay for upgrades.....?????? Thats pissing in the wind and right greed......maybe take a look at opensource software and free i might add who dont charge a dime. Oh and if you think it only works in the realm of free software then you go and take a look at the developers of fl studio. You dont see them double dipping for extra cash to cover their arses on a cold winters night with 500 blankets to cover one person bare arse crack.Bloody hell you think your the only one who lives in this world! News Flash sorry to tell you... theres over 7 billion more..... Some of them dont give a flying fuck about money!!!

Nice attitude - not. The price recently dropped from $1k to $99 - and I notice that you *still* haven't bought any version of Torque, even though it's at its lowest price ever.

They did that, because the ships going under. No amount of discounts will plug all the leaky holes in the ship! As i said money has sent these monkeys mad!

Okay:

Hmmm... While I have no issue with their pricing, I see plenty of price points that are higher than that of Torque 3D's $99, so that example is a fail, lol...
Are we talking about Torque anymore? I've been a member of this community for 10 years as of last month, and can say that almost every single "dot" upgrade has been free, and the rest have been low cost- even the $1000 T3D price point (not cheap compared to the other price points it has been but compare it to source code price points for other engines). Another example fail...
As for the comment about bugs- and since you have an affinity for FL Studios as an example- here's some proof that no software is perfect:

Quite right about there being 7 billion people in the world besides me, but I don't have to pay their rents. And as for those who don't care about money- I've been to some pretty remote (mountains in Africa) places, and while the cost of living there is very low, they're keenly aware of making money to get by, so if you want to get on that high-horse, at least know what you're talking about when you do it...

And why did you think PMG did it .....for the same reason gg is now, the reason to try and stay in the game of greed......we call money! But to cover it up....They call it business!

Well if torque is software i guess we are..... low cost i guess money is envolved there....must check the dictionary on that one! are yes some form of monetary payment beep fail! try again!
thats right all software is bug ridden..... but at least some admit it!!! while others lie out their arse!
Yeah nothing like the truth, coz some people cant handle it! Because it interferes with their evil plans for so called world domination!!!!!! But they will fail!!!!!!!!

It looks like that has been answered, so maybe this thread is done? No point in continuing the rage, accusations and domination theories.

Ooook. Everyone calm down. This thread has taken a turn for the negative and I highly suggest it either gets back to the original topic or everyone walks away. Reading the OP, this was the topic:Quote:Secondly does torque 3d support fbx import?

To keep up multiple formats, GG would have to pull programmers away from working on the engine. I would rather they keep working on the bugs in the engine.
Does your modeling package not include a collada exporter like every single other app does?
Anyway, Don't expect other formats added for import. GG is a small company, and they have their hands full just keeping the engine up.

Quote:They did that, because the ships going under. No amount of discounts will plug all the leaky holes in the ship! As i said money has sent these monkeys mad!Incorrect. Torque was bought away from IAC (monster corperation). Torque isn't sinking. It's actually thriving.

Besides 100% of the industry uses either one or both!!!For years, torque only supported it's own format. (dts/dif) There were no importers. Collada was added due to overwhelming demand, and it's not that difficult to keep current. It does everything the dts format does.
