Is any one interested in a user controlled wiki for Torque?

I admit I am no programmer I am a network man. Reconfiguring servers and setting up servers, vmware environments, redundant network systems, firewalls and security.

There are many reasons why I started this project.
1. I have the hardware, band with, and all the tools to do this.
2. The whole family loves games (including my 6 kids).
3. Wanted something every one in family could be a part of and enjoy.
4. I have played many MMO and have so many ideas that I would love to become reality.
5. My networking/hardware skills can only be a plus.
6. I love to learn everything.

Well there is to many to list here...

The docs well, read like stereo instructions and there is tons of wonderful instructions in the forums however you have to dig to find it. From my experience forums are a good place to talk about issues and the best way to do things but wikis are a wonderful way to share knowledge in a easy way for others to find it.

What I was thinking about is starting up a wiki controlled by users of Torque. This way as we find useful info, code or anything else that we can would help us or others it can put in a format that would be easy to find. The only problem with a wiki is that it is only as useful as the information that it contains and the only way the information can get there is if people enter it.

It would take me about a day to set up my question is how many here would be interested?

There already is one:

tdn.garagegames.com/

Considering it is the 'official' wiki, and it's usage was sporadic, I would recommend not setting one up separately. You also run into issues with posting source and violation of the eula trying to run your own.

I hope the GG team kicks that dead horse alive again, someday, as there are several very juicy and useful tidbits on tdn as it is, and I completely agree a wiki is the solution to the problem you outline, esp considering the (utter un-)usefulness current forum search.

Just looked at tdn.garagegames.com, yes it looks dead.

Setting one up is not hard I have set up many wikis before. I would not be starting something up to step on any toes and would do my best to work with GG with it. Face it the whole reason to set something like this up would be to make working with their product easier and our life better. None public user only who knows.

None of this is here are there unless people are interested in using it. To many times I have set stuff up just to find it set there. However every once in a while I set up a wiki and it takes off and turns in to a grate resource. The key is the people using it. That is what I am trying to find out is how many are interested in it.

Well, that's kind of what happened to the TDN. The community had the ability to work with it, but sort of stayed with the original format of forums, resources, and blogs. It's kind of hard to break people of habit ;)

I'll add that I'm not saying that a wiki is a bad idea- I'd just like to see GG implement better docs here in a centralized place (something they've started doing in their docs area already- but can be added to with the TDN being resurrected).

It would be great if TDN were used more. I actually found some good, relevant information there not too long ago.

I for one welcome a user controlled wiki. That being said, new and improved official documentation is a priority for the new GarageGames and I think we all agree that we would like to see some new life brought back to TDN. As a company, we are first going to focus on the docs and tutorials we create, but we will discuss ways to promote TDN as well.
