iT2D 1.4.1 - Particle File Corruption - LOGGED
by Michael Perry · in iTorque 2D · 03/27/2011 (10:30 am) · 4 replies
Build: 1.4.1 Release
Platform: Windows for sure, OS X needs testing
Target: Editor
Issues: Deleting a particle effect in the editor DOES delete the .eff file in the /particles folder. However, I've found that if I create a new effect with the same name as the one recently deleted, it gets corrupted (no emitter).
Suggested Fix: None yet. This needs some debugging. I think there is some memory being held onto even after the file is deleted.

It's not consistent and I'm afraid I don't yet know the exact steps to reproduce it, but it might all be related.

Mich - I've also found that with some of my particles effects, if I return to edit their graphs later (after making some new particles) the editor crashes when I click on the 'Edit Emitter Graph' button. It's not consistent and I'm afraid I don't yet know the exact steps to reproduce it, but it might all be related.

It's possible you may encounter a crash with the graphs. I had a crash occur once on the first run of using the graphs during the final check which could not be reproduced.

I'm experiencing the crashes now and then too, and in TGB. Once it starts happening, that particular particle effect is tainted forever. The current setting plays fine in a game, but there's no way to modify it anymore. Maybe deleting emitters, but that's really not a good thing to require :)
