Terrain Texture Lines Issue

by Dre Aldridge · in Torque 3D Professional · 03/10/2011 (1:13 pm) · 8 replies

I've been working with the T3D 1.1 Beta 3 and it has an issue where when using the terrain painter there are breaks in the painted section along the edges of the area where it 'blends' into the underlying texture. Both custom and preinstalled textures seem to do this and I'm not sure why. Any insight would be great.

Here is an image of the issue.

add detail textures to the base texures of the terrain, and happiness will be yours

I have a detail texture added. It is happening even with the premade terrain textures that come with T3D. I added a link to a picture of it to my original post.

seems like the actual terrain cells arnt meeting up correctly, and its painting the obliques of each cell.
most odd.

It is happening on all systems in my class including those running the previous non beta edition. Very strange.

This is an ancient ATI issue reported several of times. The devs are working on getting this fixed. Doesn't hurt to report it one more tho, keep reminding the devs :P

The bug is logged here (linky)

Ah thanks. I figured it was an ATI driver issue since I didn't remember my home computer(NVIDIA) doing that. I will pass it on to my instructor.

I have something similar in mine, but its a dark line rather than a break.

Its an ATI issue, most visible with the mobility cards. I used to have the same on a 1950 dual but it all worked fine after switching to a nvidia.
However as posted they are aware of it.
