1.1 ETA ?

by TheGasMan · in Torque 3D Professional · 02/18/2011 (4:18 am) · 28 replies

Fun facts:

- A .1 increment @ 1.3 years equates to T3D 2.0 by 2023.

- GG's barrel of excuses is refilled by Gnomes every other Wednesday morning.
(I spoke with the Gnomes last week, they said 2010 was their busiest year yet! GG/TP used over 1,000 kitten souls in 2010!!)

..feel free to add your own FUN FACT or just give an answer as to when we'll get the next T3D release!!!

We at GarageGames are deathly afraid of gnomes. Something about their small stature mixed with old man appearance. Creeps us out, so we had to fire our gnome staff when we switched from TorquePowered to GarageGames.

In all seriousness, the ETA is soon. It was not easy getting started again, but we are making great progress on the major bugs plaguing T3D 1.1. We are in the middle of the second sprint, which was planned to be the last one before going into QA. The process plan is:

- Sprint
- Review bugs
- Sprint
- Start QA
- Release a preview build to select testers when QA starts
- If things look stable within the first 48 hours of QA, we release an "unstable" or "preview" build to the entire community. It's not another beta, just a snapshot of what is being released.
- If the engine passes the QA test, we release

This worked really well for iTorque 2D. After the preview build was released, we only received 8 new bug reports...which were minor and only took me a day to resolved (six hours of working time). The bug fixing occurred during the QA process, so we were we resolving as we found them. Very streamlined.

If you are looking for a date, we had a heavily padded date of mid-March. This included three sprints and three QA cycles, which was worst case scenario. Right now, looking at our charts, we are ahead of schedule...but development changes timelines. Everyone is tasked out completely, so there is no slack.

Edit - Ok...it's just me afraid of gnomes. I shouldn't speak on behalf of GarageGames regarding gnome affairs. I stand by my statement, though. They're creepy

Well, some of us need answers/updates & some of us need kitten souls.

Thx for that post Mich.

//edit: is GG2.0 planning to hand out colored fanboi nameplates ? I see a few fellers in here that need a bright orange nametag!! :D

I like that.

"I only have one rule. Everyone fights, no one quits. You don't do your job, I shoot you myself."

It's probably closer to I'm NPH's character finding where the bugs are and sending in the programmer grunts to squash them.

@Steve - cut that out! Starship Troopers was a respectable spoof of a novel by the same name authored by Robert Heinlein. Referring to the "bug hunt" - a phrase actually used in Aliens.

@DW;
The gnomes were from GlobalGnome.
(No kittens were harmed in the making of this post.)

This is bugging me; what happens to the remainder of the kittens after their soul is removed? I hope we dont have soulless kittens wandering the back alleys...
