XNA 4.0 - R.I.P TORQUE X 2D

by Solloman · in Torque X 2D · 02/07/2011 (8:48 am) · 4 replies

Basically from the 8th of February, all XNA games MUST be submitted in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010
With XNA 4.0...

The problem is Torque X only works on XNA 3.1

So I got in touch with garage games to see if they were going to update there product and here is the reply

"Hello there,
We are ending the Torque X product line and are not porting it to XNA 4. There is a community project that is porting it to the XNA 4 platform, but we are not involved directly in the port.

Thank you,
Dave"

I cannot find anything about this community project?

Meaning I have now had to start reading XNA Game Studio 4.0 Programming....

My life is now a shame and now its goodbye to my social life...

REST IN PEACE TORQUE X 2D...

You have just sold out the indie community

It's alive, in fact there is a game in playtest with the CEV right now.

Did you read any of the recent forum threads here? I believe a lot of them mention the community project (CEV - Community Enhanced Version). FishCraft is using the CEV 4.0 which is XNA 4.0 and guess what - it works! It'll be in review this week.

Contact Pino for more information, he will set you up so that you can pull down a copy from the SVN repository. If you need help with SVN just ask - the community has already helped several people.
