64bits build?

by Novack · in Torsion · 01/13/2011 (12:29 pm) · 5 replies

You guys have intentions to a 64bits build of Torsion?

In my configuration (Win7 64) the windows explorer Tortoise contextual menus doesnt work within Torsion "Explorer" menu. Ive had similar problems in other applications, and it was always related to being 32/64 apps interfacing.

So, currently, I lost my SVN access from within Torsion.

Any ideas?

Ouch... I guess i've not used SVN from Torsion in a while as i've not noticed this one myself.

At this time there are no plans for a 64bit build, but things could change in the next month.

From the tsvn_1.7_releasenotes:
Quote:x64 Installer

In previous releases, users who installed TortoiseSVN on an x64 OS also had to separately install the 32-bit version of TortoiseSVN to get its features for 32-bit applications too.

TortoiseSVN 1.7 includes the required 32-bit parts in its x64 installers. There's no need to install the 32-bit version of TortoiseSVN on x64 OS.
So I think that will fix the issue with Torsion! Also, it gives me the hint for a double tortoise install, x64 and 32, but I dont feel it like a safe bet, so I'll rather wait for the 1.7 release.

Which sadly is still TBD, but hey! :)

The 1.7 beta is actually very stable for normal development. I think almost everyone on the team has switched to it at this point. I recommend deleting your working copy before installing it and then do a fresh checkout after it's installed. I found that to be less effort than the process for upgrading an existing working copy to 1.7.

Hey, excellent Scott, thanks a ton for the info. I'll change towards 1.7 then!
