T3D Beta 3 will not start up after clean OS install [Resolved]

posted this in the wrong area the first time.

After FFRing my HD, and reinstalling windows clean (XP Pro. Sp3). Did all MS updates.
I downnloaded and installed T3D b3
I got the error "The application failed to initalize properly (0xc0150002). Click OK to term.

Now. When I installed T3D, I was told my DX was out of date and did I want to run the web installer.. I said "Yes" and the MS web insatller said I had the same or newer update.
The T3D installer also said I needed Nvidia Phyics installed..
I looked and I have NVidia PhysX 9.10.0514 installed.
DxDiag says I have DirectX 9.0c installed

I have uninstalled and reinstalled everthing and still get the same error.

the requirements page says:
Minimum Requirements:
Windows XP or Vista
Intel or AMD Processor @ 1 Ghz
512 MB RAM (1GB recommended for Vista)
100% DirectX compatible video card with 256 MB video RAM required
DirectX 9.0c+

I have looked at thread http://www.torquepowered.com/community/forums/viewthread/24100 and found nothing useful there either.

Ideas?

T.

something way back related to the same error, may well have a solution for you - or at least an insight into how to fix it.

Just to check, get the latest Dx runtimes - and Dx SDK (June2010) for whatever version of VS you'er using ('08 or '10).

@JulianR Yeah.. I qouted that article.. nothing there..

@Steve. you are 100% right... I was reading the docs:
C:\Torque\Torque 3D 2009 1.1 Beta 3\Documentation\Official Documentation.html

and under required downloads it says you have to have the DX SDK. Does not say that in the requirements page before ya buy it. LOL.

Installed that puppy and the T3D came right up.

Thank you guys for the heads up...

T3D guys... might look into this after the storm calms.... as just installing DX 9.0c does not do the trick for the Individual license. Not in Beta 3 at least.

Again. Nice work Steve. I appre. the help guys.

I'm curious, why would Torque3D binary need the DX SDK? that would mean either the DX web installer is broken and not installing the correct files or that Torque3D has a bad dependency somewhere?

btw Torque3D beta 3 runs (and compiles) wonderfully using sdk march 2009.

Believe it needs EITHER the DirectX SDK or DirectX SDK RUNTIME installed to run ... just having "direct x" installed isn't enough.

When distributing your game around, you should make sure to also include a copy of the RUNTIME installer for the SDK you used to compile the engine.

And March 2009 SDK / Runtime seems to work OK for me too ... its all just using DirectX 9 anyhow right ?
