FOV Distance quality problem.

My problem is I cannot find a way to increase the distance a camera can look without objects becoming pixelated. I simply cannot find the setting necessary to fix my problem. Here is a screen shot I took to better display my problem.

Notice how the ground becomes pixalated very quickly from the where the camera is. The ground closest the to camera looks great, but as you get slightly away from the camera it becomes very pixelated. I understand the process of reducing the quality of objects at a distance to improve performance, but I'd like to increase the distance so it becomes less noticeable.

in the terrain texture painter, double click on the layer and change the diffuse size to something smaller, and put the detail layers view distance up to say 250 to get a better coverage

Thank you for your responses. After Steve posted I was able to determine what I had missed. It is as you said Andy all I needed to do was adjust the diffuse distance. Thank you for your replies.
