Windows 7

Heya, My Hard Drive blew so I updated to windows 7. I've read through posts about getting TX2D Builder to work with Win7 but have not been successful.

I've put it in compatibility mode disabled visual themes, desktop composition, and display scaling but with no luck.

Any suggestions?

Hey Matthew,

Sorry about your HDD :-(. I've got TX2D Builder working fine on W7, whats actually happening on your end? Are you getting the builder icon appearing on the taskbar and not seeing the builder window?

Thanks,

One of 2 things happens.

1) Running normally it opens but never displays and eventually many minutes later crashes.
2) in compatibility mode it opens and loads ok but when loading large .txfiles it locks up and does not display properly. I can enter a blank scene, this only happens when loading a large .txscene.

I have a 2nd computer with vista I can use but would like to work on my main as its faster ;).

Hmm that's odd. Have you tried the compatibility settings in the properties window?

Yes I've put it in compatibility mode (tried both vista and XP) disabled visual themes, desktop composition, and display scaling but with no luck.

Does IA still give any kind of support for TX 3.5? If they do you might be able to try them.

I installed the newest version of txb on win 7 64-bit less than a month ago and it worked just fine out of the box.

TX 3.1.5 shouldn't be giving you any trouble on Win7, in fact you shouldn't have to run it in compatibility mode at all. Make sure your video drivers are up to date. Are you running it as administrator?

I'll reinstall my video drivers and give it another go. I am running as an admin. Perhaps the drivers did not update properly. I'll let you know. Thanks. :)

So I figured it out. I uninstalled t2dbuilder and reinstalled. I think clicked off load last level on startup. Loading a project on the computer for the first time without that checked off would crash.

Everything seams to work now. :)

I've heard a lot of people having issues with the editor on win 7 but I'm running on Win7 64bit Ultimate and haven't had the builder crash once.

For what its worth I did a fresh install, then installed Torque, then did a repair on my XNA 3.1 GS

When I run the builder I don't use compatibility mode, just have it run as administrator otherwise I get lack of permission msgs.
