Connection to executable failed

by Laralyn McWilliams · in Torsion · 08/29/2010 (2:51 am) · 3 replies

TGB was working fine on both my machines... until recently. Now, no matter what I do, I get the "Connection to executable failed" error, or Torsion runs the game without stopping at breakpoints. I'm running TGB 1.75. I can't remember if I reinstalled because it had already stopped working, or for some other reason.

I've tried running in Admin mode. I followed the instructions in the Torsion thread and compiled a new version with that line of code corrected. When that didn't work, I downloaded the new binaries that someone posted to that thread, even though they're for the indie version.

Nothing seems to work. When I create a new project that has nothing in it and put a breakpoint in game.cs, I still get the connection failed error or no breakpoints.

What else can I check or change to get this resolved? It's so frustrating to have even projects that used to work and debug fine now not work at all in Torsion, on two separate machines.

And this morning, after a reboot, it's working on both machines. I still don't know why, but in case anyone else has this problem, it looks like you may need to reboot after compiling new executables before Torsion can connect to them. You may even have to try running them before you reboot.

Moved to the Torsion forum since this is specifically about working with Torsion and TGB.

Having the same issues as you, I've found out why:

Check your task manager,
Kill your game process,
bang, it works again.

The task is still open, Torsion fails to end the game like it should, that's why you cant compile twice in a row.
