TX2D 3.1.5 Latest Build - Editor stuck in tray (windows 7 professional)(solved, wasn't a bug)

by Will O-Reagan · in Torque X 2D · 08/20/2010 (3:52 pm) · 11 replies

Build: Latest 3.15 (August 19th)

Platform: Windows 7 Professional

Target: TX2D Editor - But may not have been an editor bug.

Issues: Not sure what happened here. I noted this bug in the beta too, and had to revert and clear my history. This time I have just recently re-installed win7, so there should have been no conflictions. Basically what happens is I try to to run the TX2D editor, and it is stuck in the tray at the bottom, and won't expand when i click on it.

Steps to repeat:
1. unknown

Suggested fix: Hover mouse over tray, right click, use arrow key to pop window back on screen.

This one is perplexing to me, It's not that you cannot run TX it's the editor. I have not seen others with this issue. I have however had a bad download before of iTGB, you probably have already uninstalled and re installed? maybe try re downloading etc.

Having the same issues as you guys! I have a clean install of windows 7 64 bit ultimate and a the latest 3.1.5 pro release of Torque X. My 2d editor does exactly what you described. Although my 3D editor loads fine.

I'm just trying a fresh install with deleting my roaming data. Did you find a solution?

Not only have I not found a solution, but the effect seems to double back to older versions now. I'm sort of wondering what else I can delete besides the roaming data to make this thing happy.

I just finshed another fresh install, with all roaming data deleted.

As far as i can tell, the window is open as you can see it in the thumb nail on the taskbar!

I did have this version working a few days ago but i decided it was time to re-install windows. I'm wondering if its some software I'm missing? An SDK maybe?

Its strange the 3D editor works and not the 2D!

Ok, very strange!

I thought i'd try out our problem on my laptop.

Specs:

Windows 7 64 - professional
Intel Core i3 330M
4 GB DDR3

It worked first time!:-) I have the exact same software on both machines, apart form the windows versions. I decided to try and update my graphics drivers (GeForce 9500GT) as I'd just re-installed windows. I rebooted and ran the builder, no luck, I then tried it again and presto it worked!

I hope this helps?

Yeah, I've tried graphics card issues too now, no go so far. Its sad this graphics card I bought for this and it was top of the line 3 years ago, a Radeon X1950. Now they don't even have drivers for it anymore, definitely not for windows 7. If its my hardware, or just this computer, which is 3 years old now, I'm a little disappointed, because my PC should have lasted longer then that.

As it stands, I'm scared to update to the new 3.5 on my other computer because its my only working editor "knock on wood" and they use the same operating system.

OK, let me ask a few quick questions, as I've had a similar issue happen randomly on my machine with other programs(gimp does it a lot)

1.Does it show the program when you mouseover the icon the taskbar in it's little preview screen?
2.If yes, does it show the window when you mouse over the little preview?
3.Thirdly, does it stay showing if you click on the little preview(this usually works with gimp), not the icon on the taskbar?

If 1 is a yes and 2 is a no, try right clicking the preview and selecting move and try to move it(or try maximize, or whatever) and see if that has an effect.

lol

You got it christopher perkins...

that link does the trick, the damn thing was offscreen.

WOW!

Once you get it to the "move" part, just hitting an arrow key pops it back on screen.

This was not a bug, but a really bad quirk with window's 7, and multiple monitors.
