Platformer Starter Kit Schema issue
by Torquer · in Torque X 2D · 08/19/2010 (4:16 am) · 19 replies
I'm using Torquex 3.1.5.0 and when I try to open up a project generated with the platformer starter kit I get the following message:
The Torque X schema file was not found so you will not be able to edit components. Generate the schema file by running your Torque X Project from Game Studio Express.
Running the project from C# Express 2008 doesn't yield the desired results though. It's the same thing. I'm using 3.5 SP1 of the .NET framework.
Thanks for any help.

"We also addressed some of the issues with the demo builds and how they linked to the demo projects."
"Due to the small amount of fixes we decided not to version it 3.1.6"
Possibly, that thread might help but there are two potential issues in the thread that I can think of:
1. The demo builds mentioned might only apply to Torque X 3d and not Torque X 2d
2. I don't know where these updates for 3.1.5 are available for download, and it doesn't say in the thread
Hope that might help a little with the technical issues you are experiencing!

They should be in the accounts of anyone who has purchased TX 2D or TX 3D.

David, I don't see updates in my accounts section. Just the two downloads I had previously.

Any thoughts on what to do David, if it's not showing in your account?

Also make sure you are using the "Torque X Platformer Game (3.1.5) Pro" template not the "PlatformerStarterGame" (PlatformerStarterGame shows up if you install platformersk-3.1.0.0.msi - I believe this is for the older version of torque x)
I have the current downloads and experience no issues.

@Michael: It probably has the same name because they didn't change the version, just updated the download. Uninstall your current install, download it again, and reinstall.Also make sure you are using the "Torque X Platformer Game (3.1.5) Pro" template not the "PlatformerStarterGame" (PlatformerStarterGame shows up if you install platformersk-3.1.0.0.msi - I believe this is for the older version of torque x)

Hi Aaaron. Thanks for the comment. So what version of the platformer starter kit did you install? The only one I have available is 3.1.0.0.

I just reinstalled everything, and I don't have the platformer game option you spoke of:http://drop.io/torquescreenie/asset/templates-png

My download page use to have two files for the Platformer Kit (two days ago)
Torque X Platformer Starter Kit 3.1.5 ==> Torque_X_Platformer_Starter_Kit_3.1.5.exe
Torque X Platformer Starter Kit 3.1 - IND ==> platformersk-3.1.0.0.msi
They must have removed it by accident? But you need the 3.1.5 version.
Email Support, let them know that the Platformer Starter Kit 3.1.5 download has vanished from the download page.

I actually did email support two days ago about this issue, and haven't heard anything. I will send a follow up though about the platformer kit. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Looks like the download has been set to inactive. I'll double check with Derek to make sure there wasn't a reason for it before making it active again.

Thanks for looking into that Scott. I still don't have it in my downloads btw.

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to this thread. Derek told me that the download was in fact made inactive on purpose. The build mistakenly included the engine source code so another build will be done to correct that.
