Which tools can export to dqs

Dqs is the animation only file isnt it? (dsq?)

But i need to know which to 3d progs can export to it.
The tool needs to be cross platform, or one that could be ported easily.
If there isnt a cost effective tool that exports to dsq(?) what is the availability of source (sdk) to build the plugin?

I am unable to use or buy 3DS or Maya or anything over $200 for that matter.

Tools i have looked at:

Blender (nice, free, but no exporter (dts in works, not dsq))

Milkshape (cost effective, exporter dts only and no LOD or coll file able to be more than 1 mesh)(win only)

Zmodeler (no exporter, unsure of texture abilitys)(win, could port)

Truespace 3.2 free (unsure if plugin avail)(conmplex)(win?)

SO it looks like my choice is either Blender or Milkshape out of those, Blender being more powerful but harder for my modeler to learn, milkshape being simple and supporting more formats (possibility of .md3 models being used)
But because of the game design, it is much more effecient to use a tool that can export to the sep anim file.
I am willing to try it myself, but will need as much info on the format as possible plus sdk kits for the tools.

Any help is appreciated.

I'm pretty sure only 3DSMax exports .dsq, and maybe Lightwave. Not sure that helps you in your quest, but here it is anyway. :-)

Yes the Lightwave exporter supports dsq

My prefered tool is Milkshape, but i need to export to dsq with it.

Where can i find more info on the .dsq format?

DSQ export from Milkshape is not available at this time. If you really need it you will have to code in the support yourself (this shouldn't be too hard since you have the source code to look at and work from).

Im willing to try and code it in myself, but i need more info on the file format.

Would the max plugin have enough for me to work with?

It should, I believe that this is how "Lightwave Dave" coded the Lightwave exporter from scratch.
