TX2D 3.1.5 Beta 2 - Builder no longer loads shows up except in task bar

by Will O-Reagan · in Torque X 2D · 07/18/2010 (8:51 pm) · 5 replies

Build: 3.1.5 Beta 2

Platform: Windows Vista 7

Target: Editor

Issues: Installed Beta 2, and now Editor won't boot up. Have tried restarting, re-installing, installing older versions now doesn't improve situation, but this computer is not happy at all. Basically the builder sits in the task tray, but does not go to full screen mode.

1. Just installed 3.1.5 Beta 2, not sure what i did.

2. Downloaded it with new studio license. (could this be an issue?)

Suggested Fix: Revert to old 3.1.5, and delete App Data files as described below (these are hidden, so you may have to change settings).

The Studio license has no bearing on the installer or the download itself.

Sounds like your app data got munged somehow. Make sure to uninstall any previous versions, delete the app data (users/username/App Data/GarageGames), and then reinstall it.

Hey, I found a solution, not so good though. I repeated those steps exactly about 3 times, and I could not get a good install. Repeated those steps once with the previous beta, and voila, it installed correctly. So I'm guessing this may be an issue with other windows 7 users as well, not sure.

I have also had issues with installing on win 7. I removed the old TX before installing beta2 however I did not remove the folders, it seemed to use the old setup, I had double the TX projects in VS2008.

I had remove all the TX products, remove the folders in Program files, and remove the folders in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\GarageGames

This bug is still present, didn't realize how similar my issue was from before, but this is still an issue in the latest release. Sorry for the double post.

Because the old beta is no longer available for download, I dragged and dropped the old beta install into my program files folder, and deleted my app data, and now i can run the old beta editor.
