Torque Talk Live Discussion Thread
This thread is dedicated to discussion of the TorquePowered Podcast - Torque Talk Live. Here you can post feedback for episodes and suggestions for future ones. Links to download the recorded episodes, once they're ready, along with show notes will posted by either Scott Burns or another site admin.
What is it:
A talk radio style podcast broadcast live via Ustream with recorded versions made available a day or two after the live broadcast. We'll discuss game industry news and Torque news. There will also be regular interviews with Torque developers, other employees, community members, etc. All this while taking calls from the community live via Skype.
Where is it:
You can listen live via Ustream.
When is it:
Live shows will be broadcast the first Friday of every month at 6:00 pm (EST)/3:00 pm(PST).
How to call in:
To call in to the show you'll need a headset.
To call in to the show you'll need a headset and Skype. There are also Skype apps available for iPhone and Android.
When the lines are opened for callers, call davemontgomeryblake in Skype. David will be the one screening calls before they go on the air to find out how who's calling and what they want to talk about. Please don't call before the lines are declared open.
When calling in remember that the same rules for terrestrial radio (in the US) apply to our show. In other words, keep it family friendly.

I'm finalizing Fridays segments tonight, but I'll go ahead and say that there won't be an interview for this first one, so we'll probably be taking a lot of calls.

A little from column A and a little from column B. Episodes won't exactly have a theme, but there will be regular segments in each one like industry news, Torque news, and interviews. Sometimes we may drop segments for special guests/announcements/discussions.I'm finalizing Fridays segments tonight, but I'll go ahead and say that there won't be an interview for this first one, so we'll probably be taking a lot of calls.

I like the idea, not really the time actually: that's 11pm here in Ireland (and UK) and midnight in the the rest of EU. having it a few hours earlier would be more EU friendly ;)

Also, we've unfortunately found ourselves without intro/outro music for the first episode. So anyone that would like to have their music featured in the podcast, just send me an email with an mp3 attached.

I agree with Giuseppe, not on the EU friendliness (because I'm on the East Coast US). Great time for you guys to wrap up a Friday afternoon with a fun broadcasting event but that's smack on heading out of work for Friday evening. I don't mind but the family does. I'd prefer earlier in the day or a week night evening.

Originally TTL was going to be on Thursdays, but Mich had been getting a lot feedback requesting IRC be moved to Fridays.

Scheduling of live events is always going to be tricky for us. We've got such a widespread community that I don't think we'll ever find a timeslot that will please everyone at once. This timeslot seems to be the best fit for us right now. For me its after I've finished up for the day and for Mich, Dave and Derek its late in the afternoon.Originally TTL was going to be on Thursdays, but Mich had been getting a lot feedback requesting IRC be moved to Fridays.

So with as busy as we've been lately I overlooked the fact that we're in a new month now, which means the show is tomorrow. We're still on for tomorrow night at the usual time even though I didn't do a reminder blog.

Alright everyone, we're trying something new for the calls tonight. The show is still being broadcast via UStream as usual, but for the calls we're going to try using Adobe Connect Pro. Finally got a chance to edit the raw audio. Episode 3 is up!

There will be no live broadcast for Episode 4. Due to this weekend being a holiday weekend many people were going to be out of town. So this episode will be pre-recorded. We had planned to record it yesterday but there were some scheduling conflicts.
So, long story short, we'll be recording Episode 4 next week on Wednesday and I'll have it edited and uploaded before noon the following day.
