Shading question

by Drew Kario · in Artist Corner · 06/02/2010 (1:30 am) · 2 replies

Im having some issues with shading in the game. It seems like the engine does not recognize the smoothing groups from Max on my character and the shirt seems to be all triangles. And another part of it is when i use a tiled material on a broad surface on my DTS, i can clearly see where the shading of that particular face is when it repeats and a sort of black fuzzy line is surrounding it. I think the latter has to do with the fact that the top of that building has no LOD, but im lost on the first one.

So, the question: How do I fix the harsh trianglulation and shadows on my characters shirt? And possibly, the tiled top of my building.

Thanks, Ill post pictures if needed to explain the issue better.

Here are some shots. The intersection is a solid mesh, but the lighting seems to want shade the tiling UV individually.

The seconds picture shows how the shirt is broken up in shading as well. this oculd be due to the fact that its a png instead of a jpg, but i am not sure at the moment.

Anyone?

I fixed the street shading problem, there were so many things wrong with the mesh, but most especially the stars in the mesh, thats what made all those things look weird. Still no clue on the character shirt tho.
