Maya 2010 .DTS plug-in NEEDED.
by Lucas Jay Lanier · in Artist Corner · 05/31/2010 (4:20 pm) · 23 replies
I have already attempted installing the Maya2DTS plug-in but that was meant for older versions of Maya. I can only export in Collada files. If you have any info that might help......then post it.

If you get a warning or an error, post it here..I'll look into it when I have the time.
Disclaimer: (I compiled the TGE 1.5.2 supplied exporter codebase with the 2010 MayaSDK...yet, I still have to say this: use at your own risk.)
Hopefully this fully works...

I have compiled an exporter for Maya2010. I have not had the time to test the Maya DTS processes with this exporter..so I will call this a "test exporter". If you get a warning or an error, post it here..I'll look into it when I have the time.

I installed it just as it said, but the ".dts" file does not show whenever i select to export. It only brings up a list of; mentalray(*.*), move(*.mov), mayaBinary(*.mb) and mayaAscii(*.ma).

iirc, it worked for a simple sphere. I'd recheck the installation process.

email me if you can sort that out with GG.

..if you can get David Blake, Mich. Perry or Scott Burns to say that a T3D license is good enough to grab TGE for purposes of compiling exporters then I think we can move ahead.

T3D is not TGE...if you can get David Blake, Mich. Perry or Scott Burns to say that a T3D license is good enough to grab TGE for purposes of compiling exporters then I think we can move ahead.

I'm using Maya 2009 and going to upgrade it up to Maya 2012. So.. what a have to do further to make it work?
Anyway, thanks for an answer ;)

- iTorque2D

- Torque360
But TGE is available to download for me as old engine's version.

I have been told that TGE is not part of T3D's purchase and that it is not a valid license for your use of TGE. Having previous 3D engine versions via T3D purchase is supposedly a site bug they are trying to fix.
..I've also heard; you will eventually lose all previous version downloads listed in your account, only T3D downloads will remain.
..this is complicated because you're nearly expecting me to break licensing agreements & well, I do not break license agreements. Currently I can not give you the files without breaking a license agreement & You need to understand that fast if you want me to bother giving you anything. ;)
P.S. get the ok and send me $50 for my time spent on fixing/tweaking the code.

I'm not familiar with the Maya plugin development process. Do they need to compile the plugin themselves or is it a binary that you can release?

The main question of course is:
T3D was bought at $99, does this give them license to get the TGE source too ? (I've heard that having a TGE download is a bug since TGE is not to be included with the $99 purchase.)
07/25/2011 (10:38 pm)
they would need to compile it and then they could dispense the produced binary. The main question of course is:

p.s. As I understand.. if I had a licence for TGE (much higher price then 99$), you would not talked about me in such a dismissive tone? Right? ))

Actually, i don't need a source. I need an exporter plugin for Maya2009-2012 ((p.s. As I understand.. if I had a licence for TGE (much higher price then 99$), you would not talked about me in such a dismissive tone? Right? ))

So as long as it is included, you should be able to release builds of the plugin's for it though.
07/26/2011 (9:36 am)
We currently include TGE for free with Torque 3D Pro licenses, but that can go away at any time. It is done as a free service for people who have been using it in the past. We are not supporting it at all nor are we making it available for sale beyond the free inclusion. If it ends up being a support issue, however, we will most likely remove it since very few groups are actively using it any longer. So as long as it is included, you should be able to release builds of the plugin's for it though.
