Holes in Terrain not working properly with GMK

by Donald Teal · in Game Mechanics Kit · 04/18/2010 (12:09 am) · 7 replies

I am having an issue when making holes in the terrain with the terrain editor when I have GMK merged.

I am using 1.1b and GMK1.2.8. If I use just 1.1b then the holes work properly, but after I merge GMK into the project then the terrain is cleared but it doesnt allow the character to fall through the hole.

I dont get any complie errors when I merge and I dont see any errors in console when this happens.

I really need to beable to clear the terrain and dont even know where to start to troubleshoot this

I don't work with such kind of terrain and need to check. However I wonder how its can happen in GMK 1.2.8 since this version does not include any additional physics for terrain and character stuff - only original components of T3D

Are you restarting the level after cutting holes? I would think GMK might need to rebuild your terrain collision mesh.

@Yuri,

yes it happens in 1.2.8 as well.

@Don,

yes the missions were reloaded many times as I tried different things. but still no avail

@Donald,

Did you ever resolve this? I'm having the same problem.

I'm using 1.2.9 with beta 3 and it worked before adding GMK.

Thanks guys

Hi
Yes, apparently, it's Torque problem, not GMKs. Because GMK doen't modify any terrain physics code.

was this meant to be fixed in 1.1b3 ? don't know if it was related to the borders of the terrain that has been cut causing loss of collision?
