Is there a way to not render particles on the water's reflection

Hi Guys,
I've been looking into ways to fix the GPU lock up when particles are rendered over the water reflection. So right now the simplest way I guess is either turn the water fullreflection off or maybe just exclude the particles from being rendered on the water's reflection. Has anybody tried excluded the particles from being rendered over the water's reflection before or maybe give me a hint where to start looking.
Thanks!

I believe it's the same issue here. On our tests, system using ATI cards doesn't seem to have any problem with the GPU Lockup.

The problem doesn’t seem to exist on ATi hardware and people are seeing different results with different version of drivers, have a read, see what you think.
Edit: Just seen the other post you where at, could be a different issue?
