Add new light results in error message

I'm just starting out - trying my wings by following the tutorial videos on YouTube.
I imported an object - one single mesh (LMA) without any lights. I planned to add lights from within pureLight, but when I do that, I get a "The given path's format is not supported." error message:

When I click OK, pureLight becomes unresponsive. All I can do is kill the task and relaunch from within preLight.
Unless MilkShape can do the trick, I don't have access to modeling software. Is there something else that needs to be done when I want to add (and not import) a new light?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I'm under Vista 64.

For moving lights/objects around, have a look at section 5.4 in the pureLIGHT documentation.

That error is interesting. We had that reported once before, not entirely sure what causes it. Seems like its a file path problem of some sort, what's the file path of your scene file? For moving lights/objects around, have a look at section 5.4 in the pureLIGHT documentation.

Moving everything to a simple directory that lacks those characters seems to have solved the problem.
Thanks for the tip about the docs.

Thanks Thomas. My directory names had spaces and dots (just like a default Torque 3D install directory would - but I haven't tested that exact case) - hope that helps. Moving everything to a simple directory that lacks those characters seems to have solved the problem.

Thomas, is it possible to rotate spot and directional lights? I haven't found anything about it in the docs.

You can reorientate a directional light to the camera, if you select it and press R.
Spot lights, there's not currently a built-in way to rotate them. I really should add one in.

Hmm those darn spaces and dots again! Why did Microsoft allow delimeters to be used in path names? I'll look into fixing this. You can reorientate a directional light to the camera, if you select it and press R.

On the subject of crashing/lockup: on adding a new light, I just redid a little test and this I mentioned here still occurs. Don't know if related.

This has been fixed and will be in the next release.
