getting work onto iPhone for testing

can i upload my app, in development to my iPhone? I currently don't own one, but I think it would be good to test. Also I do have xCode and the iPhone there. Is that of any use?

also, would my iPhone need a subscription to an official network. In other words, legit, or could I just by it and simply use it to test?

no you can use it even without sim card as "ipod"
but you need an apple dev subscription ($99/year for individual $299/year for business)

Actually due to the 24 month contracts here and the iphone 1st gen never happening in switzerland I've an ipod touch 1st gen and 3GS and the only iPhone I have is the iphone 3G
all working fine :)
generally they are very equal (unless you buy the ipod 8GB, which is technically part of an iphone 3G but with a faster cpu)

suh weeet. well i guess it is always best to test it by the weakest link. plus going with an iPod means i saves me some doe and "I can watch cool movies!" ./.

as for the weakest link: the ipod normally isn't the weak side, more the iphone, because the phone service take some ram. but if you get a 3GS for example that does not make a difference, they have plenty of ram and nearly never should come up with the memory warnings ...

The little spot used for the phone circuitry is used for extra permanent storage on the iPod, and it sometimes happens so that there is also a new CPU available when the iPod is ready for production. The weakest devices are the first generation iPhone and iPod, and then it alternates. iPhone in the summer, iPod by Autumn. In other words, right before the summer is a bad time to buy any of the devices ;)

You could see the iPhone as the beta for the iPod's non-phone capabilities :)The little spot used for the phone circuitry is used for extra permanent storage on the iPod, and it sometimes happens so that there is also a new CPU available when the iPod is ready for production. so I am sorry, but can i just use xCode to upload? I do have a subscription, as a paid dev.

So ya, how would I be able to test my app that I made in torque in xcode, xcode is where all of my code is, if I have a developer programs and in xcode I can usually test my apps on my phone can I do the same with a torque app?

Why would a Torque app be any different? Just load to XCode and yeh.

though thats not optimal as you will do larger parts of the development on the mac so if you don't have one in the place you develop you will likely have far less joy
