I'm in, where's my checkbook...

- I just wrote to 3Dartist Magazine requesting that they include SoftImage in their repertoire of cad apps that they use for the magazine. They currently cover max,maya,blender,c4d,poser and vue. But why not XSI ? ...hopefully they will add it in.

looking forward to it. It works with the new 2010 plugins right?

from I can tell "only seen 2 issuse" 3Dartist magazine tend to be more MAx focused. I dont recall seeing anything on Softimage in there.

I was reading one of the blogs from the softimage guys Saying that: softimage market share grew faster than any of the other Autodesk 3D apps last year. As a result Autodesk just hired a bunch of new developers for the softimage team.

I am bummed out that iRay is not in any of the autodesk applications this time around. well actually it is there but it is not exposed by autodesk. :(

Physit! currently only works for 2008 and 2009 because the plugin was specially compiled for T3D use.
I have compiled the plugin for max2010(not the New Nvidia plugin but the previous version)..yet there are a few corrections needed to make it work with T3D properly.
You may be asking ..shouldn't it just be an easy compile with a few changes in the source to make the plugin for 2010 ?
My reply would be this: www.torquepowered.com/community/forums/viewthread/111859/1#comment-731275

So, I have more work to do before 2010 is compatible with T3D or Physit!..(yeah, not too happy about that) ;)

Edit: I am still checking and rechecking Max2010 exports to see if I can make it into a science for T3D use. If that makes any sense at all.

yeah I could not get anything to work with the max 2010 plug-in. It appears that the whole work flow has changed. the old panel is gone and replaced with this tool bar that has no explanations of anything. It is very poorly done. It seems that the new plug-ins seems only geared towards using physx for you in max simulations rather than physX content creation for game like the old one was.

I could NOT have said that better myself.

Looks like although the PhysX version has been updated in Softimage 2011 theres no word on features such as PhysX export and breakable joints. I asked on Planet Softimage and the only mentioned the addition of Springs and dampeners.

The face robot lip sync tool looks awesome though and full ICE kinematics looks incredibly powerfull as well. Over all an update that I am looking forward too.

Yeah the new lighting and shader system is much welcomed. No any MR shader you find will just work in softimage! Opens up a lot of doors! no more spdl files yeah!
