Torque X 3.1.4 on Creators Club seems to be broken

by Ron Barbosa · in Torque X 2D · 03/03/2010 (7:17 pm) · 129 replies

Hey all...I just upgraded my Creators Club version of Torque X from 3.0.0 to 3.1.4 (which was released to Creators Club members today) and I'm getting the indication that my trial period has expired.

I tried to insert my product key that I used on the 3.0.0 binary, but it doesn't seem to work. Comes back as an invalid key.

I vaguely remember having to go through some steps to get my product key for version 3.0.0, but I can't find those steps documented anywhere.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks
Ron

@Kevin, Jon, Lino
I just added the Builder key to your accounts.

@Thomas
You have a full TX 2D license on your account already with a Builder key. The TX 2D download from our site should use that key.

@David

I was going to let my buddy who is going to be doing the level design use my CC license for the builder. I did not want to use the same key twice because I did not know if it would get me red flagged.

@Thomas
If he is a CC member, he should have a key on his account. Members have specific non-transferable licensee benefits.

@David

I hate to derail the thread here, but I guess you are looking at the license a bit closer than I was. I was simply looking at it from the perspective of I was entitled to two licenses to use. One from CC and the one I purchased. Basically you are saying anyone who pays for a Torque product then waves the right to use the CC license. Or I guess maybe more so that the CC is the "shareware" and the purchased product is an "upgrade" not a separate license. Sound correct?

I guess my only question is should I want to experiment with the 3D portion of the CC license will my current key I received when purchasing the 2D permit me to use the builder for that?

Was not my intention to cheat anyone out of any money here. Just as an indie side project which may never come to completion was trying to not spend money on licenses we did not think we needed.

CC Members are able to access our product from the site and install it as part of their license with Microsoft. When you purchase a TX 2D license, it is tied to you directly as well but also includes the source code. This does not mean that you can transfer your licensed software to other people outside of the licensing scope.

The CC keys provide access for you to use that binary version of TX 2D and TX 3D. Any license that you purchase from us allows you to use that version and have complete source access to the engine. Neither allows you to transfer the license to another party.

Hi David - I'm also having problems with the key from my CC membership. I get the invalid key message when I try to register TXB2D. Can you help? Thanks.

Hi,

Do not have a key for TXB2D, the 3D key seems to have worked fine.

Thanks
