Torque X 3.1.4 on Creators Club seems to be broken

by Ron Barbosa · in Torque X 2D · 03/03/2010 (7:17 pm) · 129 replies

Hey all...I just upgraded my Creators Club version of Torque X from 3.0.0 to 3.1.4 (which was released to Creators Club members today) and I'm getting the indication that my trial period has expired.

I tried to insert my product key that I used on the 3.0.0 binary, but it doesn't seem to work. Comes back as an invalid key.

I vaguely remember having to go through some steps to get my product key for version 3.0.0, but I can't find those steps documented anywhere.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks
Ron

I just Dl'd 3.1.4 from the CC site. I read your post before installing it though. I was hoping the 3.0.0 key I claimed through the site would work but apparently it does not. Bumping this so we can get an answer.

Same problem. Hope it will be fixed soon.

I just added new keys to your accounts (and had added one to Ron's earlier this morning when I got his e-mail). Let me know if it lets you register. If anyone else has problems registering with the new CC version, then post it here and the community team will try to get new keys for you.

I got a new key, but this key isn't working either with the new version 3.1.4 CC.

When I start Torque X Builder I got the Register Window (Trial version 0 days left).

Both key aren't working in this window.

Update: the key is working with Torque X 3D, not yet with Torque X 2d.
Maybe because I've installed the trial version earlier.

Tomorow I will install it on my other computer.

Also, let me know if this applies to the 2D or 3D editors. I'll ping John to see if there are any changes that were made that would be causing this behavior.

I have seen no problems at all with Torque X Builder 3D. This only seems to be a factor for Torque X Builder 2D.

I also think Johan Van Beilen is saying the same thing in his post above.

I added a new key to your account Sylph. It will be a good test on whether it has something to do with the expiration since yours has not.

Hi David, no love on that new code. It does the exact same thing as my old code.

I had a problem with this when I tried using my CC code with the demo version of Torque X 2D (non-CC version).

It wouldn't let me in, until I uninstalled the demo and reinstalled my CC version.

It almost seems like the product code is not valid for 3.1.x.

Thanks for the feedback. I sent an E-mail to John to see about the keying so we'll see what's happening.

One item to note, I'm looking at the files on the file system.

In the TXB3D folder there is a file called "ignition" (with no extension) that is dated 5/24/2009 (most likely my original TXCC install date). But in the TXB folder, there is a file called "ignition.dat" that has today's date in it.

Not sure if that helps...

Just for fun, try removing the .dat extension. You can always add it back if it doesn't find it.

I thought about that, but one file is a binary and the other has clear text, so I don't think they are interpreted the same way.

I'm doing a clean install now...let me see if that helps.

UPDATE: Clean install did no good.

UPDATE 2: It's probably worth noting that TXB3D accepts the original code without a problem (as observed by Johan and myself).

UPDATE 3: In the end, I just went back to the 3.0.0 binary (uninstall the newer version before you downgrade). Everything restored, and my projects build and execute.

@David/John/GG - Please let us know when you find the problem. I'd like to run the later build when this gets resolved.

Hey, I'm seeing the same issue, the key worked fine on 3.0 for T2D and the code is working for T3D but comes up as invalid key for T2D. Let me know if you need me to test anything out.

Thanks for trying this out everyone. I'm going to try to break my TX configuration now and see if I can figure out a way to fix it. I've let John know about the issue and am waiting to hear how it is keyed to get it up and running.
