TT registration NOT working.
Please check this thread AT

for more details. Hopefully Joe can let everybody know whats going on. I'd hate to see this game die out... We were still getting new players until just recently.

Yes. We tested registration and could not replicate the issues. I tested on my Mac this weekend and had no problems either with the normal registration method in-game nor the offline registration method.

I tried the usual method and got this:
usera.ImageCave.com/lgm/register_fail.png.jpg
Then I tried the offline method. I was able to download the file the link gave me... it was a matter of Ctrl-click and "Save as"
However, when I open the file to see if it worked, it's the HTML for the page I filled out the form on.
It isn't working. David, I'll e-mail the file I downloaded to you.

Weirdness. I can't replicate any of the in-game problems, but I have replicated the offline page's problem and will send it to the webteam.

Thanks for the help,

Yes, as Cloud and LGM have said, the Full TT Activation Server is down. I'm not sure why you can't replicate that, but this is still a problem for many of us ol' vet TTers that have upgraded, switched computers, or whatever the case may be. Also, the Offline Registration system doesn't seem to work with me. When I enter my Registration Key and Offline Key it just loops me around to the first page. Thanks for the help,
Cyl

Inflammatory omments removed. Take them to chat or 4Chan. Let's keep it civil.

Does anybody know if the problem is fixed?

^ Defending the game that has been strong for 6 years+ and the people was what I was doing. It was completely rational.Does anybody know if the problem is fixed?

Actually, I removed the "defense" post because it became completely and totally irrelevant once I removed the inflammatory post.

I just tried again... no change in what happens.
David, is there any effort to fix the problem? Either method would be good... and it sounds like the in game method is not a problem for all.

Go troll somewhere else.
@LGM
We haven't been able to make the in-game version fail in our tests. We are waiting for the webteam to work on the offline version. Since it deals with the DRM algorithms and our webteam did not write the original code, it could take some time.

Here's my setup:
Motorola SB5120 cable modem
ZyXEL X-550 router/firewall (with wi-fi)
D-LINK DES-1026G (24) 10/100 + (2) 1000 Switch
Now here's the strange part that is puzzling: My Apple MDD G4 tower and my G3 iBook both use the same airport wi-fi card, but only the iBook can validate the ignition key though the Thinktanks app (via wi-fi). None of my many Macs will validate the key over ethernet.
Somehow I used my desktop's HD as firewire target disk and booted my laptop from it. That allowed me to validate the TT app on my desktop's HD. When I booted my desktop, voila, I had a good ignition file.
I know you suggested that I hook directly up to my cable modem, but the ISP makes changing hardware a PITA.
Anyway, thank you David for the support you gave via email. I'm happy to be able to play TT on my desktop again and will post further if I figure out anything about how I did it that might be useful to others.

I tried launching TT on my laptop again. This time I just opened the ThinkTanksOSX file (Unix Exectuable file) in the TT package.
Here's what was returned in the terminal window...
ThinkTanks OSX(6128,0xb0210000) malloc: *** error for object 0x1e83a0: pointer being freed was not allocated
*** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug
Maybe that can be of use?
A little later, I tried working with my other Mac, and got the copy working on my laptop. I logged into the laptop from the desktop, launched the laptop copy of ThinkTanks on the desktop, and was able to register via the online server. After getting registered through the desktop, the copy works on the laptop.

I'm glad that it is working, though it is really weird how it started working!

I hate pointer errors. I haven't seen that occur, but with any C++ codebase, I'm not surprised.I'm glad that it is working, though it is really weird how it started working!
LGM
I don't believe the problem is isolated to me, as other players are having the same issue. Has anyone looked into the problem with registration?
