T3D Discounts..

Okay this one is a bit of a niggly question.
I've used the T3D demo and am extremely impressed, thus I would like to purchase.
Having said that, I notice that people who buy the binary version are able to get a cost saving later when they choose to go pro and grab the source.
I've also noticed that since I own TGEA already, I get a discount too, but, this is the question:
If I purchase the binary version for now, and later go pro, will I get two discounts?
It would make things by far much easier for me to manage that way.

I vaguely remember discussion about this happened in the binary announcement blog. IIRC, you can only use one discount, i.e. either the binary discount or the TGEA discount, on the Pro license.

Found this:

Quote:If you don't have the money (or the inclination) to buy Pro, now, YES it will cost you more to buy the binary upgrade later IF you were already a TGEA owner. We didn't make a mistake...

Doesn't really make sense to me, and really that kind of sucks, so guess I'll wait til I can actually aford more.

TGEA gives you the bigger discount, so there is nothing wrong ;)

The binary offer is obviously to lure in people who are new to Torque. If you do buy the binary version, you are paying $100 now, and will in the end have paid $50 more. Not so bad in the grand scheme of things.

I'm seeing a $705 upgrade price from TGEA. In my view that knocks it out of the Indie ballpark. I can't afford it at this time.

Where are seeing the $50 for the upgrade from binary to pro?

No, you read it wrong. $50 *more*, not $50 ;)
I was tired, so calculations were a bit off. It's $100. But only if you buy in small increments.

If you own TGEA, you have a $295 discount right there. So $705. If you decide to buy T3D Binary instead, you still have the $295 discount, because only the most expensive product counts towards T3D Pro. So you end up actually spending $100 more if you must have T3D, but must wait to afford the full source.

If you have none of the engines, it's $100 now for binary, and $750 for an upgrade to full source.
