Play In Web Problems | Torque 3D | Web Plugin

by Brian Mitchell · in Torque 3D Beginner · 01/11/2010 (7:48 pm) · 9 replies

Having a problem getting torque demo projects to run in a browser window. I press the "Play in Web" button when selecting a project, and this web page comes up:

C:\Torque\Torque 3D 2009 Tools Demo 1.0.1\Demos\PhysX\game\web\sample.html

I've been looking around, and there seems to be no clear answer on where to get a plug-in for web browser previewing. I did search the forums but I'm seeing some posts listed in the private status so I can't view those. I installed the ie-iaplayer-installer.exe off of the Instant Action web site but that didn't help. Could someone in the know post a step by step on what to do, OR point me to an already posted answer.

Thanks much!

It does not work with internet explorer, you need to run it in Fire fox or another similar browser. The only way to get it to work in IE is to have a full pro version of Visual studio to compile the plugin

:O Oh! Ok (Copies link to firefox) Yay it's working! (Smacks forehead) Thanks for reply Kenneth :D!

Another question to any one in the know: Is Garage Games planning to release a web player for Torque 3D, same as Unity does?

Again, thanks much for your time.

The demo should work with IE. What version of IE and Windows are you running? Are you able to run the PhysX demo application outside of the web? Do you have the lastest DirectX and PhysX runtimes installed?

Edit: Looks like we posted at about the same time :) Did you confirm the ActiveX plugin when running the first time? It should pop up a little yellow bar at the top of the page asking if you want to load it.

Josh: I have Internet explorer 8 in Windows Vista. I didn't see any Active X plug-in for internet explorer at the time of testing. Now I do; maybe had to restart my system? No idea; but it seems to work now in Internet explorer. I knew direct x and physx wasn't the problem since I could run them locally.

Thanks for reply

Ugh!! Now it's not working in internet explorer again. I guess you do have to compile the plug-in like Kenneth is saying. Still works fine if I use Firefox.

Tried "Play in Web", under Torque Toolbox, on a iMac, and I can't get it to run in it's browser. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here, since I don't usually use a Mac. Is there some miscellaneous download I'm missing?

So, the problem is this:

The page works in Google Chrome and Firefox right now, both from the install that I got from running the page in Firefox. However, when I load up the web page in IE7, the page acts as if I haven't downloaded the installer yet. I can click on the image to initiate the download, and I went through all the steps, essentially overwriting the Firefox install, just to be sure. Didn't think it would help anything, and sure enough, it didn't. Every time the page is loaded in IE7, the game never starts properly. There is no prompt for activating an ActiveX control, just the link to download the installer. Any ideas?

Yeah we can't get it (Beta 1.1) working in IE either on 3 of 4 PCs (all have identical hw and sw setups). It appears to be related to the class id the activex control uses... but regenerating this isn't fixing anything. Works fine out of the box on Firefox and Chrome.
