Anyone using 3DAAK?

by John E. Nelson · in General Add-On Discussion · 12/22/2009 (1:43 am) · 17 replies

I was wonder if anyone was using the 3D Action Adventure Kit?
If so what do you think about it? issues I should know about?
Has it been easy to replace and use another character?
Thanks!

I hear crickets chirping, and now I see a tumbleweed blowing across the great plains of the internet.

Maybe that is why they just lowered the price.

Well they said they lowerd the price because lots was buying it though I am still looking into getting it my self. There are some other AI's people are making so I want to see what those can do as well.

Other Ai's people are making? More like this kit Brandon? You have links? I'd like to check them out.

John, I'd love to hear your thoughts after a few days of use.

I agree; your thoughts would be very helpful John. I'm interested in how well the relative camera and other camera options work. I've posted on the ubiq website also.

Thanks for the link Brandon. I'll check it out.

We are going to add the 3DAAK to my current build of TGEA 1.7.1 which includes SSAO, DOF, GMK, ACK, Yack Pack, and Quiz Engine.

So the 3DAAK should add the additional fun factor of climbing obstacles, etc.

On the camera, I am interested to see what we can do since I still need the 1st person camera view for the Yack Pack conversations.

The 3DAAK camera should be the main one, but interested to see what hurdles I may have in small indoor scenes. Perhaps a trigger to force the first person camera mode on enter, and on exit return to 3DAAK camera default.

That RPG kit does sound pretty sweet and much more "involved" than ubiq's Action/Adventure kit. But its geared more towards FF type games. I'm all about making an almost... bizarre, but really in-depth type fantasy game. More along the lines of Zelda/Assassians Creed mixed. So I really don't know what to go for. Maybe both kits? It'd save me a lot of time.

-I honestly wish that the "3D Action/Adventure Kit" was actually a kit and not just a camera/animations addition. They need to throw in some melee/magic/item, dialog and inventory systems. Maybe a few nice and useful particle emitters or a few new postFX enhancements. Then, I'd be more than happy to pay whatever they ask.
Cause even at around $250 its still pretty pricey to me when we can implement our own for free. Mitch said it's "polished" so idk. But I'll leave that up to John. Maybe it is worth the time saving and polished results. John, you da man! Keep us informed!

J i hope you read some on the posts as well mosty on page 3 is where some more good info comes in.

ya i don't want to make a turn based game ether but all i have to do is scrap that code right out. i then fix the kit up to make it work again if some of the other things i need is built off that part of code.

i also know its not going to be perfect but no kit will be perfect for anyone well some might but not for my game.

i also going to ask them if they are still working on it as well as thats a big some what big company. i would think it would be out by now. :P

Any news John? Could you pull off a Assassian's Creed type camera with the 3DAAK?

yes you can, the camera system is amazing, the player needs some tweaking to make movement like Altair ^^ but it's possible and easy to do. The main issue is no compatibility YET with T3d 1.1b (bye sketch tool :( )and the second issue I have is with the model, it is maya only. (I don't know how to port it to 3dsmax 2010). There is an obj now, but no rig for the character. Otherwise, it worth the money, really. Great pack !!!
@J : try the demo !
