Error Report When TT launched After HD Reformat

#1 I re-installed the DX controls and it works now but I have installed TT w/o updating my DX controls before and it worked....Go figure.
Anyhow, if anyone has a clue on this, I'd appreciate to hear it, since I have no idea why it did not work this time really.

#2 What operating system are you installing it on?

#3 XP Home. It's a Compaq "Recovery" CD version from 2002.

#4 Wow. Make sure you are installing all of the updates on that. There's security holes a mile wide from 2002 on! Make sure you update your audio and video drivers from your card manufacturer as well.

#5 All is up to date. Btw, I know this has been asked but I think it might have been you that said that it shouldn't be a problem to redownload TT on a "new machine" if replacing the old one...Which you can imagine is pretty much needed, since it's the "Compaq" I mentioned. I'm going to replace the old P4 Compaq XP box w/a new W7 build. The Game does run on 7 as I've tried the demo on my M-i-L's new 7 build recently. My question is, do you know for certain if I'll be able to re-install the game on it's new native home w/o flags going up at GG? Maybe I'll have to repurchase the game?
Side note: I think that my pc is really just tired to play the game I'm thinking, because it ran fine back when, before the updates and now it barely performs even w/the updates today. I just tried the game and it's already starting to get choppy again. That may be why it failed to launch the first time. I updated DX and it worked but for about a day. Now it's acting up a bit. I told myself I won't bother w/it this time if it fails again. I'll be replacing the box soon anyhow. So actually, my concern is really the "license" thing.
