I also made a post in the Success stories section, but just for notification. I won't post any further infos there. I will write any additional stuff in this thread.

When you follow the link to the app store, you will see that the 512x512 icon is quite ugly... The transparency region of the png file (that displays correctly on a mac or pc) looks terrible on the app store. When you go to the app store with your iPhone, everything is correct... Anyway, I had to upload another 512x512 icon without transparency information, but it takes about 24 hours until it will be displayed in itunes.

This app would not have been possible without the friendly help of the people in this community, especially:
Marc Schaerer
Dave Calabrese
Ronny Bangsund
Craig Fortune
Nate Gertsch
Bret Patterson
David Gagnon
Lin Chear
and many, many others

Thank you very much :)))

The new icon is on iTunes now. It took under 12 hours.

Looks really cool. I think you have a possible huge hit on your hands. I haven't fully looked at it but if you added a way to select presets for popular songs I can see a lot of people buying this. It's pretty tough for non-musically inclined people to figure out what chords a song uses :).

@Bret
Thank you :)

When I was 18, I dreamed that I would soon have a number one hit in the music charts... As everybody knows, that has never happened but thanks to the app store I'll be finally able to quit my day job ;)

Seriously, even if you were right, it would be useless, because the app store is all about visibility and I made a big mistake with the release date: www.garagegames.com/community/forums/viewthread/91691/1#comment-693785

I won't cry ;) and I will try to regain speed with some "marketing" and a free light version of strummer.

Congratulations on the release! Check out that list Chris posted and market the hell out of it :)

My new free app StrummerLite is available on the App Store and it seems that it was released 24 december 2009! ;)

Whoah, I knew the Swiss had many secrets, but wasn't quite aware your time machine was ready for use!

I don't think that the Swiss invented the App Store time machine, because it seems quite common to go back to the future with Apple:

Keep us posted on how this affects your visibility in the list of new releases. And remember to report bugs to the bug reporter :)

At the moment (december 9, 7 pm Central Europe) my app is NOT visible in the list of new releases :( it is even NOT visible if I sort the music apps alphabetically and try to find StrummerLite under "S"...

It IS visible if I SEARCH for "Strummer" or "StrummerLite" on iTunes.

Ha! Now I am on top of the new releases list of the music category
(still with my "Christmas Eve app"... :)

side by side with an app that will be released the day after tomorrow...

I don't complain but I wonder how long this will last...

It's over... ;)
After more than one day on page 1 of the new releases in the music category, StrummerLite is only on page 3 now.

It was downloaded over 700 times during this short period!

With the full version Strummer (99 Cents), I get about 1-2 downloads a day :(

It's funny what people suddenly "need" when it's free... ;)

1-2 downloads a day seems to be the norm once your off of the top 100 list. I've found that marketing, reviews etc don't make a noticeable difference in your sales. The only thing that seems to make a difference is being in the top 100 lists.

Yes. The top 100 list is the holy grail on the App Store. There you can sell ANYTHING where outside it you can promote your app like hell without any significant change in your sales...

StrummerLite is in the Top 100 charts in the music category (top free apps) :)
