Product Registration

I purchased MBG from Garage Games a loooong time ago -- the folder for it on my computer is dated 2004. I just discovered that there still this active community for the game. I tried to download the platinum version, but the installer fails. I've also downloaded the first (Jan 2008?) set of custom levels, but I see that on a lot of them most of the terrain is missing. I see the start pad, the finish pad, and a few floating features.

Is there something that I need to do to update my copy of MBG, or the registration of it? Any suggestions?

I don't understand - what problems are you having with problem registration?

For your question about the custom levels, that means you are missing the interior files (.dif and texture images). For marble blast gold levels, usually the levels will not come with the interiors so you will have to find those... somewhere else (try the custom level archive interiors- http://philsempire.com/cla/CLA-MBG-Interiors-3-07-08-Update.zip). Marble Blast Platinum levels usually come with their interiors, so just put them in marble/data/interiors.

Where in the install process does the installer give an error/crash? If you have a copy of MBG purchased from GarageGames, it should work fine.

Any more questions, ask them on the forums: http://www.marbleblast.com

On the registration question -- I was just wondering if my copy of MBG is so old that the installer doesn't recognize it or that it's a properly purchased version. Or if that might have something to do with the problems with the custom levels.

On the custom levels, I did move the interiors that came with the custom levels into the marble:data:interiors folder. I'll try the zip file you mentioned.

On the install -- I just crashed after I hit okay on the dialog where I specified the MBG current location and the install location.

Another interesting bit. I normally log in with a non-Admin account (I find it safer that way -- I get prompted for access to important things so I'm less likely to make a stoopid user mistake). I just tried logging in with the Admin account and doing the install. In this case, I get a pop-up with an error message "Error: Library Marble folder not found" before the installer crashes. That is a repeatable behavior.

The link above (http://philsempire.com/cla/CLA-MBG-Interiors-3-07-08-Update.zip) is broken. I did find and download and install your custom levels, and they work fine, including the interiors.

This link will work: http://philsempire.com/platinum/cla/CLA-MBG-Interiors-3-07-08-Update.zip

You need to install MBP on whichever user you have played MBG on, as it uses resources from that user account, not systemwide. On the account you will be using to play Marble Blast Platinum, launch Marble Blast Gold, play a level, and close the game. Then, running the installer should work.

Thanks. That link worked, AND fixed the "where's the floor?!" problem.

However, I'm still having problems with the install. I logged in with my admin account, played and completed a level of MBG, then ran the MBP install. I didn't get the error message, but the installer still crashed at the same point.

Rename User>Library>Marbleblast folder to some other name (i.e. "Marbleblast backup"). Re-download a fresh copy of Marble Blast Gold and play a level in it and close. If the installer still does not work, you'll need to do a manual install.

You can find a redownload for Marble Blast Gold from your account page on this website (the full version one, not the demo).

Note: You'll have to use this fresh copy of Marble Blast Gold instead of the old one, so move all your custom content over to it afterwards.

This seems to have worked...

However... now that I have MBP 1.12 successfully installed, I can't get any levels to load. There are no preview pics of the levels, and if I try to load a level, the progress bar never advances beyond 0%. I looked inside the executable, and the levels are there, with the preview images. The console.log doesn't show any errors.

Also, the 1.14 upgrader consistently crashes. The console.log does shows a SIGSEGV error on thread 6. I can send you the whole crash report if you tell me how.

Yeah, send the crash report please. And the console log.
