importet collada object won't update material

When I finally figured out how to import a collada object into T3D it obviously had the no material on it, so I thought "ah well I just have to put a material on with the material editor", so I opened the material editor and tried to put new textures onto it, however it diddent update at all.
I tried to click it again and the material reset back to the no material texture in the material editor.
Am I missing something here?
I created the object through just meshes (no scripting at all), then had to resize it since it was extremely small, and then tried to put on the Textures through the material editor but nothing happens at all.

Well I tried to export at first from 3D Studio Max to collada but apparently diddent work, so I tried to export to obj then into blender and then to collada from that.

OK sure some modellers are just incapable to realize that 3D world units count and not meters or millimeters, but why is there a need for such ugly engine hacks just to please lazy / incapable artists?

Somewhen someone has to explain me why every second engine I use applies a 0.01 to 0.05 scale to imported models?OK sure some modellers are just incapable to realize that 3D world units count and not meters or millimeters, but why is there a need for such ugly engine hacks just to please lazy / incapable artists?

Thanks steve, diddent figure I had to tell it to port the UVmap aswell heh, though the 1.0 scale is not exactly the correct size, but I guess if I make my models the correct the size I want them in my 3D editor's and just port everything in with the 1.0 scale that will probaly solve it I guess

The Collada Importer has a scale which you can change, for some reason the default is 0.01. Make it 1.0 and see if that's the right size.
Also, it's useful to mention what modeling app you're using.
