Being solicited by e-mail to give Marble Blast away.

by Michael Cozzolino · in General Discussion · 04/14/2003 (5:28 am) · 14 replies

I received an email from someone that requested that I send them a copy of Marble Blast. They explained that they played the demo and liked it and since it wasn't on the wareaz scene; that I should give him a copy. I don't currently own a copy. NOT THAT I WOULD GIVE IT AWAY IF I DID. I am totally against this and I hope anyone else who gets this email does not give this person a copy.

I would toss the email you received to Jeff or Jay, maybe they can track the scum down and rip his/her eyes out with tweasers...

I was thinking that. I don't think much can be done though. I will give it a shot though.

Do you expect anything more of someone who is most likely 11-13 years old?

Its sad that a game that is good, and so low cost would still be ripped off. But I'm sure the people who would do that have a whole laundry list of excuses to "justify" it.

Got a copy sent to me - I think a few people have been spammed lookn' for the game. They ask not to be flamed just for asking and "its not like he'd be buying it anyway" so there is nothing to lose. My favorite part was looking for sympathy because he couldn't find it on the warez scene.

Well I guess at least for a few Ignition even keeps dishonest people from finding the game dishonestly.

LOL
Of course they can't find it in any of the warez spots; it's not a game that is likely ever to be found there because of it's target audience... anyway, i'm not going to give a lecture on motivation for warez-ing etc. ;)

So Jay, have you pulled his eyes out with tweasers yet?

It's a commie plot... EVERYTHING is pirated... and EVERYTHING gets cracked....

Though, perhaps Ignition is the first and only protection scheme which deters pirates while not annoying paying customers... My guess is that Marble Blast is just too far below radar to have been picked up yet...

Anyway, when Marble Blast goes box, including something like Ignition would be a terrible idea... taking for granted that the title gets decent placement, you will see it on warez...

Every single one of our games hits "the scene" the day BEFORE it ships to stores...

Joshua, how do you figure that happens? Beta testers? I know I probably sound like a n00b, but that just sounds weird for your games to come out on a warez before it ships.

Pirate groups actively recruit people who work in duplication/warehouses, get early review copies, etc...

Watch that website I linked, in many cases pirates are playing games days, if not weeks, before legitimate copies are available in stores...

Piracy is a reality that sucks... cd-keys for online play and subscription based games seem to work though...
