Anyone played GD Swarm ?

This is probably one of the best visual feasts I've seen on the iPhone yet. It's totally my style and I'm amazed at how fast the framerate appears to be. There is a ton going on onscreen and the framerate still feels really good. This is on the slowest device too, an iPhone 3g.

Played it while waiting for the tram yesterday after shopping. Hard as hell fast, but fun. I've had as much going on in a test project, but not yet with T2Di. I do notice a hard hit to the framerate when OpenFeint's menu opens, so the general advice to keep it out of the GL views isn't all superstition ;)

Yeah its pretty much fun to play :)
Though the effects are not thaaat stunning, lot of faking (its not even modifying the actual grid but a textured sphere overlay, unlike the geometry wars clone available)

That's why it's fast, and that's why we should copy such trickery :)

Right :)
But the comment was targeted at "amazed due to the speed"
Its not that hard to get high speed if you have only little going on

The particle explosions seem to be individual particles animated with physics and that's the part that is pretty stunning. The warping background is pretty simple but cool looking. I'm pretty amazed at the basic guns ammo shooting tons of projectiles and then the particle explosion animations. I thought they might just be sprites but the individual particles bounce off of the walls.
