Plan for David "RM" Michael

Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias as it fell was Oh no, not again. Many people have speculated that if we knew exactly why the bowl of petunias had thought that we would know a lot more about the nature of the Universe than we do now.

As I posted on my Joe Indie blog last week, by an unexpected confluence of events totally beyond my control, the Paintball Net project is underway again.
Or, at least, it's underway to get underway again.
One of the first things I've been doing is reading up on Torque again. It had been since...oh...summer 2003...that I had last checked up on the engine. I feel out of date. Fortunately, Torque seems to have kept up, and maybe even pulled ahead some. 1.3 looks pretty damn impressive.
I've been reading through the forums (using that nifty new search feature), researching some topics (like cartoon outlining) and checking out what's new/changed. Some familiar names...lots of new names.
I have a lot of catching up to do.
Some stuff is already happening. Already talking to a potential art director/lead artist. Putting together a budget (which is, BTW, a nice thing to have) estimate. Reviewing my scripting from before. Deciding on issues like whether to go TSE or not (probably not), what look we want to pursue, etc.
Exciting times.
We're enthusiastic. Cautiously. (After all, we've been here before. ;-) ) But still enthusiastic.

Paintball.net actually seems like one of those projects that REALLY suits torque well.
With all the enhancements and the collective knowledge we've gained in the last few years about Torque, it feels like the time has come to ship some great games!

OK, so it has almost been a year since this post, what is new on PBN:2. I really hope this goes through, I just want some of the magic of the original PBN to be there.-Ryn
