Realm Wars sketch

Posted my first Realm Wars concept art today...kind of a scary thing since I am such an art newbie. Hopefully, the real artists out there will be gentle.

I had an interesting game idea the other day. It is a small game along the lines of bridge builder and hopefully it would capture that same addictive quality. The idea came to me after watching a guy work a backhoe. It has always amazed me that they can make that machine look alive...like some prehistoric creature. And they do it with only two levers! The game idea I cooked up is that the player controls a robotic arm and has to carry out tasks that increase in difficulty. For example, the first task could simply be pushing a button. The next task could be picking up a block and moving it across a table. Some examples of harder tasks would be stacking wine glasses (breakable) and throwing a ball through a hoop. I think if the tasks are planned out well then you could have a cool little game on your hands. Personally, I don't plan to make this game anytime in the future so if you want it, have fun!

Well, off to more drawing...as in anything you do practice is the key to being successful =)

I've been keeping an eye on the Realm Wars forums since they launched and have started reading some of the other forums as well recently. I doubt I will ever reach the point of reading everything like I used to. It just ate up too much of my time.

Currently, I am trying to focus on a purely art direction but I may dust off my programming hat at some point...we'll just have to see =)
